builder specializing in the cajon (a wooden box drum originally from Peru &
Cuba) and the marimbula (a Caribbean bass box similar to a large bass thumb
piano). In both cases the player sits on the box to play. Afro-Cuban conga
techniques translate well to the cajon. Cajons are used in Afro-Latin music,
Flamenco, and also for many unplugged type sessions as simulating a drumset
groove on the cajon is relatively simple to achieve.
