Tulsa Mediterranean Drummers are Tulsa OK area men and women (age 13 and up), who meet weekly in a welcoming, supportive environment, to enjoy playing hand drums (doumbek, darabuka, egyptian tabla, riq, def, bendir, zaggat/zills) in the styles of the Mediterranean/Middle Eastern countries (North Africa, Arabia, Lebanon, Egypt, Israel, Turkey, Greece, etc.).  TMD does occasional performances and workshops for dancers.

We are always looking for string or wind instrument players to come and "jam" with us, and for more drummers. Drum lessons are available from an excellent teacher; no musical experience required. Try us; but do not buy a drum without our advice.

For "African" drumming (djembes, ashikos, congas), there are other groups in town you should contact instead of us, e.g.
